Prospect Park Trip

 We had such a beautiful time at Prospect Park . The weather was warm and gorgeous. We saw all different color leaves and trees: green, red, orange, yellow, and brown. We collected leaves in a bag. We played in the park and we threw and kicked leaves while we sang our "fall" song.
 It was a GREAT  learning through discovery experience for all the children.

Fall

Today, we started learning about fall. We spoke about all the different colors of leaves. We saw brown , green , red, orange and yellow leaves. We discussed that when when it starts to get cold  , the leaves begin to fall off the trees. First we learned through exercises. We pretended we were tall tall trees blowing in the wind. Then winter was coming and it was getting cold. So the trees (the children) got ready to go to sleep for the winter. But first, all our leaves had to fall to the ground. Then we were ready to face the winter!
After learning about fall through movement, we did a collage using foam pieces shaped as leaves. We stuck the leaves on trees to show all the different color leaves that are found on trees in the fall.
 Then we went out for a nature walk and looked for trees with leaves that were changing colors.
